This is a shorter hike but an unusual one, as it gives you a very unique perspective of Old Faithful. What is also unusual, is that in just minutes you can be away from the crowds of thousands of people at the world’s most famous geyser, and enjoying the peace and tranquility of the surrounding forest. Once you’re in the forests, you wouldn’t think you were right next to one of America’s most prominent tourist attractions.
The trail takes you up a vertical gain of 200 feet or 61 metres to the observation point, and more often than not, there are only a handful of people there. It goes without saying that we time the hike to coincide with when Old Faithful has been predicted to erupt.
The Old Faithful Observation Point hike is about 1.6 miles (2.6 kilometres). If you’d like to take a longer hike which also visits the Old Faithful Observation Point, we do offer a loop hike which cuts across through the forest to Solitary Geyser and then various other thermal features, in addition to the Old Faithful Observation Point.
